Looking for a Spectora alternative?
Spectora is a good product and the biggest name in the category. It is also priced in US dollars and built around a full back office you may not need. Here is an honest comparison, including the parts where it wins.
Price, side by side
| AfterInspect | Spectora | |
|---|---|---|
| One inspector | CA$49/month | US$109/month |
| Each additional inspector | CA$39/month | US$99/month |
| Billing currency | Canadian dollars | US dollars |
| Free trial | 14 days, no card | Offered - see their site for current terms |
Spectora figures are from their published pricing page as of August 2026 and may have changed - check spectora.com for current numbers. We have deliberately not converted USD to CAD here, because the rate moves and any figure we printed would be wrong by the time you read it. That volatility is itself the point: a Canadian inspector on a USD plan pays an amount that changes every month, plus whatever their card charges on a foreign transaction.
Where AfterInspect is genuinely different
- Billed in Canadian dollars. No exchange rate, no foreign transaction fee, no month-to-month drift in what you actually pay.
- Offline-first, not offline-tolerant. Captures are written to your device before anything is sent anywhere, so no signal means no difference. How that works.
- Dictation with the raw transcript kept. An AI-structured draft is offered, but the original transcript is always there and nothing lands in your report without you reviewing it.
- A comment library written around Canadian housing stock - ice damming, knob-and-tube, oil tanks, frost depth. More on the Canadian side.
Where Spectora is the better choice
If any of these matter to you, take them seriously - we would rather you pick the right tool than churn in two months.
- You want one tool for the whole business. Spectora covers scheduling, agreements, payments and client communication. AfterInspect does inspection capture and reporting, and stops there.
- You want a company website bundled in. They sell that; we don't.
- You want a large ecosystem. Twelve thousand-plus inspectors means templates, integrations, agent familiarity with their report format, and a lot of people to ask when you're stuck. We are new and much smaller.
- You inspect in the United States. Our pricing, comment library and support hours are all pointed at Canada.
The honest summary
If you are a Canadian inspector who mainly needs to walk a property, capture findings reliably without signal, and send a good-looking report - and you would rather not run your business banking through a US dollar subscription - AfterInspect is likely cheaper and a closer fit. If you need an all-in-one back office with a mature ecosystem behind it, Spectora is the safer pick, and that is a perfectly reasonable decision.
