Changing language
On the Canadian site (afterinspect.ca) you can use the app in English or in French. The choice belongs to you, not to the company, so each person on the account picks their own. This article covers how to change it, what it changes, and what your clients see.
French is an option in the app on the Canadian site only. On the US site (afterinspect.com) the app and the public website are in English, and the Language box on the Profile page lists English and nothing else, so there is nothing to change there. The pages your clients open from a link are a separate case, described under "What your client sees".
Change your language
- Open the menu at the top right, choose Account, then Profile under Business.
- In the Language box at the top, choose English or Français. Each language is written in its own language, so you can find yours even if the page is in the one you cannot read.

The app switches at once: menus, buttons, the Account pages, messages and the inspection screens. There is no Save button.

The inspection list and its Finish setting up card change too:

Where the choice is kept
The choice is saved to your account, so another device picks it up the next time it signs in or refreshes its session. It is also remembered on the device straight away. If you change it with no signal, the screen switches immediately, and the change is sent when you are back online and again the next time the app starts. Until then another device keeps the old language.
A new account starts in the language chosen on the sign-up form, which is set to the language of the page you signed up from. A teammate you invite starts in the language you are using, and can change it themselves; see Inviting your team. Your Language choice decides the app and a few app-only screens such as the password reset and email confirmation pages. It does not change the language of the public website, which follows the page you are on, and this help center is in English only.
What stays in English or as you wrote it
- Your words. Findings, comments, templates, section and item names, notes, your company name and your report pages are shown as you wrote them. The app does not translate them.
- The PDF report. It is in English. The Language box says so: "Reports and emails to your clients are not affected yet."
- Emails to clients, the agreement page and payment pages. These are written in English only. Nothing in them reads your setting or a language choice.
What your client sees
The two pages a client opens from a link you send, the web report and the online booking page, are the exception. They follow the client, not you. They open in the language the link names with ?lang=, else the client's own browser language, and the client can switch with the button in the top bar of the page, which reads Français on an English page and English on a French one. The button is also on the passcode screen, and on the "report unavailable" page. The same applies to the booking page. These two pages do not check which site they are on, so on the US site a client whose browser prefers French, or who taps the button, can also see them in French. Only the app's Language box and the public website are limited to English there.

Tapping it changes the page's own wording, such as the severity names, the summary and the buttons, and adds ?lang=fr to the link.

Your findings and recommendations stay in the language you wrote them in. A link you copy from the browser after switching keeps the language, so you can send a client a link that opens in French by adding ?lang=fr to the end of it.
If something goes wrong
- The screen is still in the old language after choosing. The new language's text loads the first time you pick it. With no connection and no copy cached on the device, the app stays in English. Reconnect and choose again.
- Another device is in the other language. The change has not reached it yet. Open the app there while online, or choose the language on that device.
- You see only English in the Language box. You are on the US site, where the app has no French.
- A client sees the wrong language. Ask them to use the language button in the top bar. The page does not look at your setting.
