Insights
Insights shows how your business is going, worked out from the inspections and delivered reports already in AfterInspect. There is nothing to set up and nothing to enter. Only the account owner or an admin can open it (see Inviting your team for roles); anyone else sees "Only the account owner or an admin can see business insights."
Open it
- Tap Insights in the top bar.
- Pick a range with 3 months, 6 months, 12 months or 24 months. It starts on 12 months, and the current month always counts as the last month.

The page says what it leaves out: "Sample inspections and unconfirmed booking requests are left out." A request you have not accepted, or have declined, never counts. An inspection that has not happened yet, with a date in the future, is not counted until its day.
The four tiles
- Inspections. How many inspections fall in the range, with "(number) completed" beside it. An inspection belongs to the month of its Inspection date; if it has none, to the month it was created. It counts whether or not it is finished.
- Typical turnaround. The middle value, in days, from the inspection day to the day the report was first emailed to the client ("Inspection day to report emailed"). It is a median, so one slow report does not skew it. It only counts reports you emailed with Email to client; a report you only downloaded or shared by copying the link does not count. It shows - until you have emailed one.
- Reports opened. The percentage of delivered reports that the client has opened, with "(opened) of (delivered)" beside it. "Delivered" means an inspection whose report you emailed; "opened" means a client opened any version of it through the share link. Your own preview does not count. It shows - until you have emailed one.
- Findings per inspection. Findings of Minor severity or above, divided by the number of completed inspections, to one decimal place ("Minor and above"). It shows - until you have a completed inspection. Findings copied forward into a re-inspection are not counted twice.
Inspections by month
The bars show the number of inspections in each month of the range, with the count above each bar. Month names are shown under the bars for ranges up to 12 months. Hover over a bar for "(number) inspections". It counts every inspection in the range, completed or not.
The Overview page under Account has a smaller six-month chart of inspections created per month. That one goes by the day the inspection was created, so it can differ from this one, which goes by the inspection date.
Most common findings
The table lists up to eight items, such as "Roof covering" or "Water heater", ordered by how many findings they had in the range.

- Item is the name of the inspection item the finding was recorded on. Names that differ only in capital letters or spaces at the ends are counted together.
- Findings is how many findings of Minor severity or above were recorded on it.
- Major or safety is how many of those were rated Major or Safety.
If you have not recorded any findings, it says "Findings will show up here once you have recorded some."
What Insights does not show
There is no revenue, no no-show rate and no booking conversion, because AfterInspect does not record a price on an inspection or a no-show. If you take client payments, the Payments page under Account lists what is waiting and exports what has been paid. To see who sends you work, use Contacts.
If something goes wrong
- A tile shows - or "0 of 0". That measure has nothing to work from yet. Turnaround and Reports opened need at least one report emailed to a client. See Share the link and email the client.
- The numbers look too low. Check the range. Only inspections inside it count, and an inspection created but never given a date is counted in the month it was created.
- A recent inspection is missing. It may be a booking request you have not accepted. See Booking requests. It may also be a sample inspection.
- Findings per inspection is lower than you expect. Findings below Minor severity, and findings on inspections that are not yet completed, are not counted.
- "Could not load your insights. Try refreshing the page." The request failed. Check your connection and reload.
- You do not see Insights in the top bar. Only owners and admins have it.
